A Man Like Me Cannot Take My Life

1 Samuel 17
Life is full of battles, to overcome them one needs to confront the issues that weigh you down.

According to Ralph Waldo Emerson, "Life is a journey, not a destination...” The truth is, if you do not get to your destination. Life is fruitless; therefore why should you let any man stop you from achieving your aim.

In the Biblical story of David and Goliath (1 Samuel 17), it was recorded that Goliath was feared by both the young and the old but this did not frighten David. Though David was as some will say a mere shepherd boy, however he had the will and wits of a thousand men.

The Bible described Goliath as a “man with whose height was six cubits and a span. He had a bronze helmet on his head and wore a coat of scale armor of bronze weighing five thousand shekels; on his legs he wore bronze greaves, and a bronze javelin was slung on his back. His spear shaft was like a weaver’s rod, and its iron point weighed six hundred shekels. His shield bearer went ahead of him”.

For 40 days Goliath attacked the Philistines, until one day someone that was not counted among numbers battled him down.

Life has taught me that behind every great problem a great gift awaits you, however if you focus your eyes on the problem, you may not get the great gift.

It was recorded that the King promises David half of his Kingdom, if he conquers Goliath.

Though it was not recorded that David was discouraged but it can be assumed that some people   even his family members may have doubted his ability to wrestle the Champion.

“If you don’t even leave the house for fear of the journey, how will you ever reach your destination?” –Rehman.

One of the things the devil can use as a device to destroy man, is to take away your confidence in God.

To win the battles of life, you must have confidence in God, just like David, irrespective of how great the obstacle may seem nothing is too big for God.

Though Goliath was fully armed and protected, yet God directed David to the unprotected part of his enemy.

Faith and a simple stone thrown at the head of Goliath won the day.

Indeed, the step of the righteous is ordered by God. Apply the same to your every day lives and you will definitely win any life battle.
