How to Know that God Loves You

You believe that God created the universe, including you; however, you are not sure if God loves you.
Below, are some things that you need to consider. We can know some things about God by looking at His creations. We also have the Holy Bible to enlighten us. The Holy Bible makes clear that people are very important to God. The fact that God made you a human being means that you are very important to Him. You are a higher form of life than all the other creatures on the Earth. The highest heavens belong to the LORD, but the earth he has given to man. (Psalms 115:16 NIV)

God created you in His own image. You are the same species as God. That means that you are created with an important purpose; that is to have relationship with God, to interact with Him. You can learn some things about yourself by looking at your parents. However, you can learn much more about yourself by knowing your Creator.

So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. Then God blessed them, and God said to them, "Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth." (Genesis 1:27-28 NKJV)

Think about it. God did not make you a rat, a dog or a bird. You are created in the image of God. Not only that, God made you special and unique. Out of all the people God created, you are different. Everything about you is unique, your DNA, your fingerprints, your face, and even your voice has a special sound that only belongs to you. That is why science can use all these things to identify you. The way you think is also unique and your personality is one of a kind. You are special to God because He made you.

For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place. When I was woven together in the depths of the earth, your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be. How precious to me are your thoughts, O God! How vast is the sum of them! Were I to count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand. When I awake, I am still with you. (Psalms 139:13-18 NIV)

The word fearfully above means that you were created with great respect. The word wonderfully means that you are made to be very special, unique from everyone else. It was God's will to make you; you are a product of His desire. You are created for God's pleasure.

Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created. (Revelation 4:11 KJV)

God is love and that is His greatest pleasure. You are designed by love, created by love and created for love. You are made to receive and give love. If you are a parent with many children, you know that the bond of love you have with each child is unique and special, because each one of your children are special and unique. You love all your children, but your love connected to each child's love forms a special bond. For instance, if you loose a child no one can ever replace that child. The bond of love you had with that child cannot be replaced by another child. The same is true in our relationship with our Father God, only you can satisfy His desire of love from you. You are created to have a special love bond with God.

God makes it clear what He desires from you. You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength. (Deuteronomy 6:5)

Enoch had a love relationship with God. He walked with God and communicated with God for many years and then God took him. He did not die God took him directly to heaven. God wants you to walk with Him like Enoch. Enoch walked with God; and he was not, for God took him. (Genesis 5:24 NASB)

By faith Enoch was taken away so that he did not see death, "AND WAS NOT FOUND, BECAUSE GOD HAD TAKEN HIM"; for before he was taken he had this testimony, that he pleased God. But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. (Hebrews 11:5-6 NKJV)

Maybe you do not like some things about yourself. However, you also need to consider two things. First, God has a plan for your good in this life and for eternity. The second thing is that God is not finished with you yet. When you give your life to Jesus Christ you begin a new life. As you co-operate with Him, by obeying Him, you are being changed into a new you. Beloved, now we are children of God, and it has not appeared as yet what we will be. We know that when He appears, we will be like Him, because we will see Him just as He is. And everyone who has this hope fixed on Him purifies himself, just as He is pure. (1 John 3:2-3 NASB)

Be thankful for the good things that you do like about yourself. Humble yourself before God and He will give you His grace and help you overcome every challenge in your life. God's strength is made perfect in your weaknesses. What you may see as a weakness is an opportunity for God to help you overcome. If you focus your love on Him He will make everything work together for good. God responds to our love for Him. And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose. (Romans 8:28 NASB)

The more you get to know God the more you will know that He is good and you will learn to trust Him more and more. That will cause you to love Him more and more. God wants us to love Him by our own choice so He gives us freedom to choose. "Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him on high, because he has known My name. He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him. With long life I will satisfy him, And show him My salvation." (Psalms 91:14-16 NKJV)

One of the most important ways you can know God's love for you is to remember the price Jesus paid for you on the cross. Do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's. (1 Corinthians 6:19-20 NKJV)

Jesus carried your sins and suffered your penalty for sin so that you could be holy and righteous in Him. He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. (2 Corinthians 5:21 NASB) Think about it, God was willing to suffer for you.

You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had. Though He was God, He did not think of equality with God as something to cling to. Instead, He gave up His divine privileges; He took the humble position of a slave and was born as a human being. When He appeared in human form, He humbled Himself in obedience to God and died a criminal's death on a cross. (Philippians 2:5-8 NLT)

Many of the things that people suffer Jesus also suffered. He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him, nothing in his appearance that we should desire him. He was despised and rejected by men, a man of sorrows, and familiar with suffering. Like one from whom men hide their faces he was despised, and we esteemed him not. Surely he took up our infirmities and carried our sorrows, yet we considered him stricken by God, smitten by him, and afflicted. But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed. We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to his own way; and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all. (Isaiah 53:2-6 NIV)

For the foolishness of God is wiser than man's wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than man's strength. Brothers, think of what you were when you were called. Not many of you were wise by human standards; not many were influential; not many were of noble birth. But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. He chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things--and the things that are not--to nullify the things that are, so that no one may boast before him. It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God--that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption. Therefore, as it is written: "Let him who boasts boast in the Lord." (1 Corinthians 1:25-31 NIV)

Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from the will of your Father. And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. So don't be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows. (Matthew 10:29-31 NIV)

It is very important that you talk to God and wait and listen for His answer. It may be that if you ask the Lord if He loves you that things may come to mind about times He protected you or comforted you. God has helped you out many times that you do not know about.

Yet it is I who taught Ephraim to walk, I took them in My arms; But they did not know that I healed them. I led them with cords of a man, with bonds of love, And I became to them as one who lifts the yoke from their jaws; And I bent down and fed them. (Hosea 11:3-4 NASB)

'He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes, to him I will give some of the hidden manna, and I will give him a white stone, and a new name written on the stone which no one knows but he who receives it.' (Revelation 2:17 NASB) Jesus has a special plan for you and a new identity in eternity.

Set your mind on the things above, not on the things that are on earth. For you have died and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, who is our life, is revealed, then you also will be revealed with Him in glory. (Colossians 3:2-4 NASB)

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. (2 Corinthians 5:17 NKJV)

Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you. (1 Peter 5:6-7 NKJV)

From heaven the LORD looks down and sees all mankind; from his dwelling place he watches all who live on earth--he who forms the hearts of all, who considers everything they do. (Psalms 33:13-15 NIV)
