Who is your Father?

On a certain day I was invited for a wedding party.
I wore one of my best outfit, did my make up right and when I looked at myself in the mirror, I loved what I saw.

At the wedding event, a young man could not get his eyes off me. He came close to me and sat down, then he asked; 'What is your name?'

I told him, am Njoku Chidinma and he said; Oh! your surname 'Njoku' rings a bell. He said; your father must be the ex-minister? I said; 'No'. But before I could say anything he went on and said; 'I get it, your father is the one who owns the famous street in Lagos Ikoyi. I said; 'No' but before I could response again he said; 'I cannot be wrong this time, your father is the former Senator'. Once more I said; 'No'. His face changed, he had a big frown on his face and he quietly asked "Who is your father in the society?"

The question -  WHO IS YOUR FATHER? is mostly asked by those who belong to a particular social status. They need to know if you belong to their high society social circle.

Actually, physically everyone has only one father, and can only have one father. But spiritually, you have one of two fathers. Jesus said on one occasion to the Pharisees, ''You are of your father the devil.'' (John 8:44). The vast majority of people in this world today are, at this moment, children of the devil. But there are those who have become the children of God.

There are three key words to keep in mind if you are going to determine who your father is. The first is the word faith - John 1:12 states, ''But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name.''. The second is the word family. The third is the word father. For it is by faith that you enter into the family of God, and therefore have God as your Father.

However, do not be intimidated, anytime you are asked;WHO IS YOUR FATHER? boldly say these words, I heard from a famous Christian female preacher:

1. My father is the architect of the universe and He is the manger of all time.
2. He is the keeper of creation and creator of all.
3. He is the first and last.
4. He is light, love, longevity, goodness, kindness and faithfulness.
5. He is my Saviour, he is my peace and his mind is on me.
6. I belong to God.
7. He is, He was and always will be unmoved and never run down.
8. He was bruised but brought healing.
9. He was persecuted but brought life.
10. He was risen to bring power.

I serve Him because;
1. His ways are right and His words eternal.
2. He is the wisdom of the wise.
3. His goal is a relationship with me.
4. He can never forsake, leave or mislead me.
5. He will never cancel my appointment in His appointment book.
6. When I fall, He lifts me and when I fail, He forgives me.
7. When I am weak, He is strong.
8. When I stumble, He will steady me.
9. When am broken, He will mend me.
10. When am hungry, He feeds me.
11. When I face trial, He is with me.
12. When I face problems, He comforts me.
13. My Father is everything to everyone, every time.
14. He is God and He is who I belong to.
