How To Pray 2

For God is Spirit, so those who worship him must worship in spirit and in truth - (John 4:24).
Prayer is a spiritual meeting with our Creator. It is conversation with God; the communication between  the soul and its maker, it is a direct access to Him.

Prayer is a “beseeching the Lord” (Exodus 32:11); “pouring out the soul before the Lord” (1 Samuel 1:15);“seeking unto God and making supplication” (Job 8:5); “drawing near to God” (Psalms 73:28); “bowing the knees” (Ephesians 3:14).

Here are a few tips on how to pray;

5. Prayer Request:

In the previous article, prayer is described as a relationship with God, therefore it is not an opportunity to read out a long list of prayer requests on what God should do and not do. It takes God nothing to bless us but He longs for a relationship with us.

Nevertheless, we cannot be blind to our daily needs and heartaches but those who worship God must do that in Spirit and in truth which means earthly desires should not be our sole priority in life. The Lord is good and is willing to provide our daily needs as well as enrich us with his overflow but sometimes we misunderstand the sole purpose of prayer.

The most basic definition of prayer is “talking to God.” But it is not about stating out your problems alone. The difference between information and communication is; information - informs without a feed back but for communication to be effective there must be the encoder and the decoder. Its a two way flow. You need to listen to God too. The victory in prayer is to pray to hear from God.

6. Faith:

Prayer must also be offered in the faith that God hears and answers prayer, and that he will fulfill his word, “Ask, and ye shall receive” (Matthew 7:7).

After you have prayed believe therefore that you have received it. The Holy Spirit gave me more insight about  Zechariah and Elizabeth ,the parents of John the Baptist, He said; though they had grown old and forgotten about ever having children, God did not forget them. Despite their age he blessed them with a son. Faith is not just getting what you asked but to believe God is in control.

Paul wrote, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:6–7). Worry about nothing; pray about everything.

The Lord told Jeremiah in Jeremiah 1:5;"Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart". Lets be self assured God has us in His palms. Those he has called he predestined, Paul says in Romans 8:29, "Whom he foreknew, he predestined." Predestination does not refer here to the choice of who will be saved. It refers to the destiny appointed for those who are chosen. Therefore rest in the finished work of Christ Jesus.

Shalom!
