The Power of Prayer
David prayed in 1 Samuel 17 and overcame Goliath just with a stone. Goliath was great warrior giant but was defeated by a young lad because he prayed.
The River was broken into two because Moses prayed (Exodus 14). When the Egyptians chased after the Israelite, The Lord parted the sea for the Israelite to pass on dry land to the other side because a man prayed.
The Sun stood still because a man prayed. Joshua prayed, and God supernaturally provided the light necessary for Joshua’s army to win its battle. Joshua said to the Lord in the presence of Israel: ‘Sun, stand still over Gibeon, / and you, moon, over the Valley of Aijalon.’ / So the sun stood still, / and the moon stopped, / till the nation avenged itself on its enemies. . . . And the Lord defiled nature for a full day because Joshua prayed(Joshua 10:12–14).
Elijah was as human as we are, and yet when he prayed earnestly that no rain would fall, none fell for three years and six months. Then, when he prayed again, the sky sent down rain and the earth began to yield its crops - James 5:17-18. Elijah prayed and the Lord heard him; he prayed for a drought in the land. Raise the widow’s son from the dead. Call down fire from heaven to consume the offering on Mount Carmel.
The Lord opened the Prison cells at midnight because Paul and Silas prayed (Acts 16:25). Paul and Silas were held captive by their enemy but the Lord gave them freedom. When life gets dark and its difficult to sing, you need to pray. You do not need to be an ordained Pastor to pray, God is not a father to only one child, He loves us all. You are a royal priesthood(1 Peter 2:9).
Lord Jesus prayed and a dead man came back to life (John 11:38-44). Though Lazarus had died 4 days before Jesus arrived, his decomposed body came alive because the Lord prayed .
Hannah was a barren woman and she prayed like a drunken woman and the Lord opened her womb. She prayed for one child but the Lord gave her five children. 1 Samuel 2:21- And the LORD was gracious to Hannah; she gave birth to three sons and two daughters. Meanwhile, the boy Samuel grew up in the presence of the LORD.
The Bible states(Job 42:10),after Job prayed for his friends the Lord turned his captivity. Though he lost everything the Lord restored him 10 more children and blessed him with more than he ever heard. Job 42:10- After Job had prayed for his friends, the LORD restored his fortunes and gave him twice as much as he had before.
Brethren, do not ever doubt the power that is in your prayer life. Things happen when people pray. It is still true that the prayer of a righteous man availeth much(James 5:16 ).
The Bible states in 2 Chronicles 7:14: "If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land". The great KING is not a man that He should lie, His words cannot go back to Him void, He is not sometimes faithful, He is always faithful. Therefore ask God to do what only He can do.
