Overcome Depression 4: DELAY IS NOT DENIAL

The Merriam Webster Dictionary defines the word WAIT as the ability to stay in a place until an expected event happens.
To wait is to  be DELAYED.

Exodus 32:1 states that when the people saw that Moses was taking so long in coming down from the mountain, they made themselves another god. Many times we get impatient after waiting for so long so we compromise the best to get less than our expectation.

Moses proved the existence and power of God, through a number of miraculous signs to help the Israelite believe, these miracles were done, including the ten plagues on the Egyptians, the Israelite came out of Egypt with a renewed belief in the God of their fathers. They passed through the Red Sea on dry land, while the Egyptian army was drowned, and they were brought to the mountain of God to receive His laws. But when Moses was  absent, they lost faith and made themselves another god.

The people wanted worship but not obedience. To accept Jesus is to live for Jesus, you cannot separate both qualities. You cannot say you believe in a person and live for another. Faith in God means we believe He cannot fail even though nothing is happening. We live by faith not by sight.
In Exodus 32:26, the next day, Moses went up and confessed the people’s sins before God, asking for His forgiveness. But God declared that the guilty ones would yet pay with their own deaths and be blotted out of His book. Faithfulness requires obedience.

The Bible clearly states that without faith, no one can please God (Heb.11:6). Even though we justify our actions through reason or logic, if one violates God’s clear commands, we are sinning against Him, and He will hold us accountable for those sins. The Almighty was not pleased the Isrealites made an alternative god for themselves despite all He did for them. We must understand that delay is not God's denial, He loves you too much to abandon you. He is working behind the scenes. You have to trust Him, the Bible states that while the Virgin where waiting for their bride groom, they where burning oil (Matt. 25).

The search for a sign or sudden answer has led a lot of Christians to fail in their walk with God. Anyone who trust God will not need a sign to prove it. No one has the ability to wake himself up every day. Therefore the evidence of a living God can be found everywhere in our day lives. When it seems God has exit the building, you must believe He is working behind the scenes for our elevation.

No doubt the waiting time is one of the most difficult period in the christian life. We worship God when we believe His Word, obey it, and declare His greatness to others. Its not about being all emotional in prayer and playing musical instruments alone, we give God the highest praise when you are offered a married woman for sex and you say; I wouldn't. You glorify God when you are tempted to steal and you say; I wouldn't.

It may appear that God is silent sometimes, but He really isn't. The left hand must not know what the right hand is doing (Matthew 6:3). The Bible states that after Jesus died, no one saw Him, He was away from the human eyes but He was doing the greatest accomplishment. He conquered the grave and death for our sake and put the enemy under. These are a few scriptures to prove it: "But now has been revealed by the appearing of our Savior Christ Jesus, who abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel"-2 Timothy 1:10.

And the living one. I died, and behold I am alive forevermore, and I have the keys of Death and Hades.-Revelation 1:18

For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive in the spirit.-1 Peter

Furthermore when Lazarus died, they waited for Jesus but they got impatient and buried him. But the Bible states that though the King of glory arrived four days after, He called the decomposed body of Lazarus back to life.  Lazarus came back to life brand new, no sickness, no disease nothing. He loves us and He will give us double for all the trouble the enemy caused.

Our lives and times are in God's hands. He told Jeremiah, "I foreknew you". Romans 8:29 states "For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters". Brethren, be patient with the process. James advised, "Don't try to get out of anything prematurely. Let it do its work so you become mature and well-developed." (James 1:4).

Shalom!
