Contentment is a great gain
One day, the father of a very wealthy family took his only son on a trip to the country with the sole aim to show him how poor people live.
They spent a couple of days and nights in a farm of what would be considered a very poor family. On their return from the trip, the father asked his son, "How was the trip?"
The boy replied; "It was great Dad."
Did you see how the poor people live?"the father asked
"Öh yeah,"said the son.
"So, tell me, what did you learn from the trip? "asked the father.
The son asnwered: "I saw that we have one dog and they had four. We have a pool that reaches to the middle of our garden and they have a creek that has no end. We have imported lanterns in our gardens and they have the stars at night. Our patio reaches to the front yard and they have the whole horizon.
"We have a small piece of land to live on and they have fields that go beyond our sight.
"We have servants who serve us, but they serve others. We buy our food, but they grow theirs.
"We have walls around our property to protect us, they have friends to protect them.''
The boy's father was speechless.
Then his son added, "Thanks Dad for showng me how poor we are.''
Today article is specially for those who see themselves as poor and wish they were living mansions and own an entire estate. Some of these persons have an inferiority complex and due to their humble state, find it difficult to be proud of themselves in public. They attract self pity.
The message of today is, be proud of who, where and what you are. Many of these people with inferiority complex pretend to be what they are not when they are with their peers or colleagues. They tell lies about what they don't have.
We are special regardless of our state of wealth, be content and proud of yourself. Work hard to take care of your self according to your means and leave the rest to God. If we could just look within, the poor will appreciate their freedom and peace.
Be content, believe God will take care of your needs, this faith brings peace of mind which is a great gain.
Hebrews 13:5
Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”
