The Cure for Bad Temper

I read a  certain story of a little boy who had a bad temper. This little boy's bad temper bothered his father as he thought of a wise way to curb it.
His father gave him a bag of nails and told him that every time he lost his temper, to hammer a nail in the back fence.

The first day, the boy had driven 37 nails into the fence. Then its gradually dwindled down. He discovered it was easier to hold temper than to drive those nails into fence. Finally the day came when the boy didn't lose his temper at all.

The boy told his father about it and the father suggested that he now pull out one nail for each that he was able to hold his temper. The days passed and the young boy was finally able to tell his father that all the nails were gone.

The father took his son by the hand and led him to the fence. He said, "You have done well, my son, but look at the holes in the fence. The  fence will never be the same. When you say things in anger, they leave a scar just like this one.

You can put a knife in a man and draw it out. It won't matter how many times you say "I'm sorry", the wound is still there. A verbal wound is as bad as a physical one.

Remember the Biblical story of Hosea and the Prostitute (Hosea 1-2), the Holy Bible clearly stated that Hosea whose name means "Salavation" was a man of God, a prophet but yet God directed him to marry a prostitute. The Lord said " Go, take to yourself an adulterous wife and children of unfaithfulness, because the land is guilty of the vilest, adultery in departing from the LORD".

The essence of this scripture was to describe, God's love for humanity. God's patience, he doesn't judge, condemn or criticize us, rather he gives us room for repentance. He wants us all to repent and come to him. It is sad that among us, some feel holier than thou and place so much burden and demand on others. If they don't meet up to their expectations, they get angry, rain curses and critize those who hurt them.

Do not get me wrong, Yes! some people upset us but when you are tempted to lose patience with someone, think how patient God has been with you all the time.
